EPISODE SEVENTY-EIGHT: The Valleys of Morgura

The party endured 4 very long, dull and boring hours of travel by boat while en route to the port city of Myria, in the 「Valleys of Morgura」 Prefecture. During this time, the party did their best to entertain themselves: CHRIS and THRAX playing 'Ahh, death!!!' for a couple of hours, THRAX playing his 'hatchet', TRITHAL yearning for some weed, and the Saibot Clan talking about things only they find interest in.

Once they finally arrive in Myria, the party locates the boat rental place and promptly returns the Tomb Horse so as to not incur any late fees. Next, they stop at a records kiosk and save their place. Then they find the Western Union office at the pier and collect the 3000 GP that King Midus wired to them. Afterward, they venture as a group into the city of Myria.

THRAX: "Let's use some of this money to stock up on supplies and other necessary shit."

TRITHAL: "Good idea. Along with reefer, you can find just about anything you need or could possibly want here in Myria. The Quan District here is one of the biggest commercial market places in this prefecture."

The party spends the next hour or so walking around the Quan District and visiting some of the many shops the area has. THRAX had to keep a watchful eye on CHRIS so as to make sure he doesn't blow his share of the money on stupid shit.

With everyone stocked up on their items, supplies, etc. and only 325 of their GP spent, the party makes their way back toward the pier to find a rent-a-car place. While on their way, they hear someone behind them shout 'TSUTARU!'. They turn to find a younger man with long, braided hair wearing a martial arts school uniform running up the street toward the party.

After studying the approaching person, TRITHAL recognizes him and shouts back "Jeff! What the hell, man? Where's the fire?"

Jeff catches up to the party and nearly collapses from being out of breath. He grabs TRITHAL's shoulder and says, "Tsutaru... we've been trying to find you for months!"

TRITHAL: "Why? What's going on?"

Jeff (still trying to catch his breath): "Some fucked up shit has gone down in Laurenstown. Can we go somewhere and talk?"

TRITHAL and the party find an Italian restaurant nearby and go inside. The whole party collectively isn't too hungry so they order little side dishes and such. After CHRIS asks several stupid questions about their menu and selection, he eventually settles on nothing.

CHRIS: (whines) "I'll wait 'til we get to a good place before I eat,"

Because of his interest in what Jeff has to say, TRITHAL doesn't care to make fun of CHRIS and sits down and commences eat-mode. While they sit and enjoy their appetizers, Jeff explains the situation to TRITHAL:

Jeff: "Almost a year ago, Master Hitukiri died..."

TRITHAL (shocked): "Are you serious?"

Jeff nods and continues, "After Minako died and you left, his health just began falling apart. He was nearly bed-ridden for the last six months of his life. No one knew what his illness was... well I think he new, but wouldn't tell anyone else what was wrong. Right before he died, he wrote a letter and instructed us to deliver it to you after he passed away. Since you didn't tell anyone where you were going when you left, we've had the hardest time trying to find you."

TRITHAL: "What did the letter say?"

Jeff: "No one knows. The master wrote it in some language none of us know how to read."

TRITHAL: "Where is it?"

Jeff: "It's back at the dojo in Laurenstown. If you want, I can give you all a ride there in my mom's minivan."

THRAX: "Actually, we're headed west to Kurgemenheim on some official business. We were gonna rent a car and drive directly there."

TRITHAL: "Well, there is a car rental place in Laurenstown... and it isn't as far of a drive from there to Kurgemenheim as it is from here. I say we go."

THRAX thinks for a second, then says "Ok. We're not in any big rush anyway, and it would be wise to save money on the way."

TRITHAL is almost stunned to hear THRAX the Hell-Fire utter the words 'save money', but soon gets over it.

The group finishes the meal, pays their check, and makes their way to Jeff's mom's minivan. The vehicle is already slightly loaded with items and shit that Jeff had purchased that day, but there's still barely enough room to squeeze the party of nine plus Jeff inside.

While making their way down the highway toward Laurnestown, TRITHAL asks Jeff, "So, what's been going on at the dojo since the master died?"

Jeff takes a deep breath and says "Well, the student body has pretty much collapsed. Almost everyone has either left to find other schools, or has given up swordsmanship altogether. Only a handful of us remain."

TRITHAL: "Has anyone tried to take over as the new master?"

Jeff: "Well, that's just it. The master ordered us to wait until we found you before deciding on a new master. Since it took so long to find you, almost everyone has lost hope in the Kaze sword."

TRITHAL: "Damn! That sucks! Now I wish I would have kept in touch!"

After a 45-minute drive the party enters Laurenstown, a small village nestled in a valley alongside a river in central Morgura Prefecture. The sun had almost set, so the party decided to stay the night at the Motel Six in town. There is a Denny's across the street, so they went there for dinner. Everyone is now thankful they have some spending cash again.
